This June, Campbells Partner Guy Manning and his teammates, Craig Noble, Russell Crumpler and Sudarshan Ratnavelu, will attempt to ride non-stop across the USA, in one of the most respected ultra-endurance events in the world, Race Across America (RAAM).
RAAM starts in Oceanside, California on 17 June, and ends when the riders cross the finish line in Annapolis, Maryland, some 3000 miles, 12 states, and 170,000 vertical feet later. The distance covered is approximately one-third longer than the Tour de France, but they will attempt to complete the race in 7 days, which is one-third of the time of the Tour.
Guy and his teammates in Team 3K4 will be riding to raise awareness and much needed funds for four very deserving charities, The Cayman Islands Cancer Society, The Children’s Tumor Foundation, Ellie’s Wish and Macmillan. Their ride is entirely self-funded, so every dollar donated will go directly to the charities. Guy will be riding to raise money for the Cancer Society, as he did during his Seven Summits mountaineering challenge.
Various corporate sponsors have already confirmed their support, including Campbells, Cricket Square, KPMG, Borrelli Walsh, Kirk Office, Butterfield, Deloitte and SteppingStones, but the riders are still looking for additional support for the charities. “We’re very grateful to all of our corporate sponsors,” says Guy. “But we also want to encourage the community to contribute what they can to support our four charities, as they are totally reliant on outside assistance to continue their vital work”.
