Overview

Dan is a senior associate in our Litigation, Insolvency & Restructuring Department, based in the British Virgin Islands office. He specialises in insolvency, shareholder disputes and the cross-border enforcement of judgments. Dan has experience acting for office holders and creditors in cross border insolvency disputes. He has acted for a broad range of commercial and institutional clients including banks, investment funds and insurers.

In addition to commercial litigation, Dan has a wealth of experience in contentious trusts.

Dan is a solicitor advocate admitted in the BVI and regularly appears before the BVI Commercial Court and Court of Appeal. Prior to moving to the BVI in 2024, Dan practised in Bermuda where he is admitted as an attorney.

  • Acting for the BVI Court appointed liquidators of a significant shareholder in the collapse of Bank of Asia BVI.
  • Acting for the professional directors of private investment funds in the BVI in relation to claims of unfair prejudice by investors and derivative proceedings.
  • Bringing London arbitration proceedings on behalf of a major crypto exchange.
  • Obtaining a BVI Court sanctioned scheme of arrangement in the restructuring of a major mining operation in South America.
  • Representing the directors of a PRC state owned metals operation in Africa in contempt proceedings in the BVI.
  • Acting for class representatives in the Northstar Financial Services (Bermuda) liquidation in relation to a representative action concerning the recovery of policyholders’ segregated assets.
  • Defending a major international hotel chain against the enforcement of foreign arbitration awards by the Trump Organization.
  • Acting for the beneficiaries in the Grand View trusts litigation.
  • Acting for HSBC Bank of Bermuda in the cross-border enforcement of commercial lending agreements.
