“Campbells is a first-tier firm.”

Campbells’ insurance practice is recognised as holding a leading position among law firms in the insurance/reinsurance sector of the Cayman Islands and heads the market in both contentious and non-contentious insurance matters. The firm advises on the establishment of both captive insurers and reinsurance entities in the Cayman Islands and is lead counsel to the Caribbean Catastrophe Risk Insurance Facility, a World Bank-sponsored entity that provides coverage to Caribbean governments for hurricane and earthquake risks. Our lawyers have been involved in some of the highest-profile and most innovative structures applied to catastrophe risk and to accessing the capital markets for insurance purposes.

The practice includes corporate and regulatory work for insurers and reinsurers, whether captive or otherwise; advising local insurers on domestic insurance law matters; assisting in dispute resolution; and advising special-purpose insurance companies, such as catastrophe bond issuers and finite risk vehicles. We also have extensive experience advising reinsurers from formation, through IPO, in connection with their ongoing operations, and advising life insurers that operate internationally. In addition, we provide advice to local and foreign insurers on their domestic operations and related regulatory matters.

Our clients include the largest insurance carriers in the Caribbean, domestic and international insurers and Lloyd’s syndicates.
